What Is a Deposit Bond?

A Deposit Bond is a guarantee provided to a seller in place of a traditional cash deposit.

Rather than transferring up to 10% of the purchase price at contract exchange, you provide the seller or real estate agent with a Deposit Bond issued through an approved provider.

The bond guarantees that if you fail to complete the purchase, the seller can claim the deposit amount from the bond issuer. If settlement proceeds as planned, no money is paid under the bond and it simply expires.
